Our values

Build confidence through performance

Playing in front of others is a critical facet of music education. But performance doesn't always have to be a formal recital. We provide frequent performance opportunities  ranging from low-stakes, impromptu jams to full-scale public gigs.

Think and speak critically about music

Being a good audience isn't just about watching the stage. We teach our students to actively participate by processing music, understanding the meaning, and giving feedback. We integrate opportunities for students to collaborate together throughout our programming.

Learn to be part of a team

Playing music alone can be a wonderful, mediative exercise. But there's nothing quite like the magic of playing music with other people. We integrate opportunities to play together throughout our programming.

Our mission is to build community through music.

The "green room" is a place where musicians gather before going on stage. It’s a place where they can relax, prepare, and focus together. It’s a space for musicians to be with other musicians.

Here, every student is a musician. Every musician is part of the community. And the community gathers in the Green Room.

“One of the key findings... is how important music is for creating a sense of belonging and purpose for the students who participate,” said Eason, associate director of CPPR. “They identify themselves as musicians, as being in the band or chorus... The students also believe that music participation teaches them skills like discipline and concentration that they can use to their benefit throughout the school days.”

The benefits, both academic and otherwise, of learning music are proven and well documented. However, learning to play music simply for the sake of playing music is increasingly difficult to sustain.

We provide world-class teaching by the best instructors whose services extend beyond teaching scales, songs, and recitals. Green Room Music enables and strengthens community through music. We build belonging, trust, and partnership between our students, teachers, parents, and the surrounding towns. Our students will not only learn to play music, but will connect with each other as learners, collaborators, performers, and audience.
